CHAPTER 7: PRINCIPLES OF FOREIGN POLICY

 

Art. 86 The Algerian Republic adheres to the principles and objectives laid down in the Charters of the United Nations Organization, the Organization of African Unity, and the League of Arab States. 

Art. 87 – The unity of the Arab peoples is etched in the common destiny of these peoples.

Where the conditions are met for a unity based on the liberation of the masses, Algeria pledges to promote union, integration, or merger systems likely to come up to the legitimate and deep expectations of the Arab peoples.

The unity of the Maghrebian peoples devised for the benefit the masses, is a fundamental choice of the Algerian Revolution.

Art. 88 – The fulfilment of the objectives of the Organization of African Unity and the promotion of unity among the peoples of the continent are historical imperatives and permanent features of the policy of the Algerian Republic.

Art. 89 – In conformity with the Charters of the United Nations Organization, the Organization of African Unity, and the League of Arab States, the Algerian Republic shall refrain from resorting to war to encroach upon the legitimate sovereignty and the liberty of other peoples.

It shall endeavour to settle international disputes by pacific means.

Art. 90 – Faithful to the principles and goals of non-alignment, Algeria shall strive for the establishment of peace, peaceful coexistence, and non-interference in the internal affairs of States.     

Art. 91 – Under no circumstances shall a part of the national territory be relinquished.

Art. 92 – The struggle against colonialism, neo-colonialism, imperialism, and racial discrimination shall constitute a fundamental line of the Revolution.

Algeria’s solidarity with all the peoples of Africa, Asia, and Latin America in their fight for political and economic liberty, their right to self-determination and independence, shall be an essential dimension of the national policy.

Art. 93 – The strengthening of international co-operation and the development of friendly relation among states based on equality, mutual interest, and non-interference in internal affairs, shall be basic principles of the national policy.
